3 Books That Should Be Made Into Movies

This week Lost in Books asked for 3 books that should be made into movies, and this one was hard because it seems most books I've read are already movies! But I found 3 that haven't hit the silver screen quite yet:

1. "The Book of Lost Things" by John Connolly - this is one of my favorite books and I think it would be a cool fantasy movie
2. "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen - everyone loves a good love story/circus movie!
3. "Burning Bright" by Tracy Chevalier - "Girl With a Pearl Earring" was made into a movie, so they should make this one into a movie too (and it also has a circus in it)

P.S. "Open Book" is by Kathy Jeffords.

Do it for the doggies!

On Sunday I'm going to do a Petsmart Charities PetWalk with Captain Skippyjon Jones. We are trying to raise money for Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary, a local shelter, while socializing and exercising.

Click here if you would like to donate a dollar or more.

You can also visit Friends For Life.

The photo is of my nephew helping get Captain in shape for our 5k walk.

3 Books That Make Me Long for Warmer Weather

Local forecasts call for sunny weather in the 70s for the next 2 weeks, but Lost in Books wants to turn the heat up! These three books made me hot:

1. "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" by Rebecca Wells - There's this part where the Ya-Yas are so hot they go swimming in the water tank. I love that part and this book!
2. "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" by Terry McMillan - A woman escapes her man problems by going to Jamaica, where she meets a local hottie (way better than the movie...I guess that goes without saying)
3. "Seaside Style" by Diane Dorrans Saeks - This is a photography book which has pictures of beach houses (inside and out) from places all over the world like Brazil, Tahiti, Mexico, Greece, and Australia.

P.S. Pink Truck is by Samuel Ribeyron.

quote of the week

On Wednesday my students were all sitting on the rug waiting for me to grab a book, come over, and read it to them. They were chatting quietly, but as I sat down with my selection, one girl goes, "Shh! The show's about to start!"

P.S. I found this picture at ohdeedoh.

3 Anti-Love/Anti-Couple/Pro-Single Books

For the record I am pro-love, pro-couple and pro-single, but this is the list I'm asked to make by Lost in Books. If you're feeling bitter this Valentine's Day, these books are for you:

1. "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas - Is any woman worth what Edmond Dantès goes through in this story?
2. "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald - a classic tale of unrequited love
3. "Practical Magic" by Alice Hoffman - anti-love with a twist of girl power

I chose Apertura by Raul Allen for this list because that girl looks like she don't need no man.

Let's play Guess the Season!

Winter?

Spring?

Summer?

Fall?

The correct answer is...Winter! I took all these pictures this evening on a walk with Captain Skippyjon Jones. These trees are all in about a 50 yard radius of each other. I brought my camera along because I noticed on our Friday walk that desert trees don't know what to do unless it's 100 degrees out. Also all the bushes are flowering since it just rained.

3 Books I Read When I Need a Good Cry

Really this list should be called 3 Books That Made Me Cry, because anyone who knows me knows I never need a good cry since I cry like a first grader regularly. In the order I read them, here is my list as Lost in Books requests:

1. "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton - good guys never win!
2. "Chosen by a Horse" by Susan Richards - animal stories are pretty much written to make you cry
3. "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe - slavery, death...several opportunities to cry it out

P.S. "DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN" is from imgur, but I don't know who made it. It wasn't me.
